Geoff Dyer's 4/4

This week Soweto is joined by Geoff Dyer, author of the acclaimed 'But Beautiful: A Book About Jazz'. From Monday to Thursday, he is picking four inspirational jazz records for 4/4.

This week, Soweto welcomes English author Geoff Dyer as his 4/4 guest. A prolific writer of both novels and non-fiction, Geoff is well-known for his book 'But Beautiful: A Book About Jazz' which takes an unorthodox look at the lives of nine jazz greats and counts Keith Jarrett as a fan.

From Monday to Thursday, Geoff is taking us round his record collection, sharing some of the jazz albums that have influenced him. To begin his week, Geoff chooses a record by one of jazz's pioneering saxophonists.

Also in the programme, there is music from Ships of the Pharaohs, Billy Marrows, and Kevin Haynes & Grupo Elegua.

‘Round Midnight is presented by award-winning saxophonist Soweto Kinch. This weekday late-night show celebrates the thriving UK jazz scene and spotlights the best new music alongside incredible acts from past decades.
